Two teenage sisters were subjected to a terrifying ordeal during a robbery on their home on the outskirts of Belfast this afternoon.

The girls, aged 14 and 18, were tied up with electrical cables by two men who broke into their home in Crumlin.

One of the men was armed with a ratchet, a PSNI spokesman said.

The men ransacked the house, stealing electrical equipment and a sum of cash.

They then made their escape in a red saloon car in the direction of Belfast city.

The two girls were later freed, unharmed, the spokesman said.
