It's not the fact that Ruseis, at heart, no different from other real-time strategy games. You do more or less the same things: gather your armies, move your artillery and attack. You have goals and missions and bonus goals. The plot, meanwhile, loosely centres on tracking down an intelligence source. But there is definitely something addictive about Ruse. Maybe it's the emphasis on bluffing your enemies. It could be the emphasis on using intelligence (spying to uncover enemy plans, intercepting transmissions) as much as brute force. It's slow going at first, but for newcomers to RTS games, this could be a blessing in disguise, giving you time to find your footing. You have to plan your moves carefully in order to progress from smaller battles to all-out war. The PS Move support adds a bit of excitement, but probably because it's new rather than any real departure from standard controls.
