Everyone's favourite plumbers are back, setting off for Pi'illo Island in another RPG title. You get what you expect from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team: colourful worlds, plenty of enemies and a princess who hasn't mastered the art of defending herself. There's a bit of a drawn-out lead into the game proper, with Mario and Luigi navigating the 3D world of Pi'illo Island and its overly happy inhabitants. Before you know it, Princess Peach and Toadsworth are whisked off into an ancient hidden area of the castle. Your sense of timing will get a good workout here. You control both Mario and Luigi and it takes precision. Battles are one on one in a turn-based play. If you're familiar with this type of Mario game, you can skip a lot of the tedious tutorials on how to attack and counterattack. Winning battles wins you experience points, which increases your mushroom rank. Aside from the 3D view, there are also the familiar side-scrolling portions of the game, when Mario is joined by Dreamy Luigi. Battles can get a bit tedious, but overall, this is another enjoyable Mario adventure.
