Car Toons: Mater's Tall Tales

Pixar's Cars franchise has been busy. The latest addition is Cars Toon: Mater's Tales, a game based on the animated series. The Wii exclusive, though obviously aimed at a younger audience, is not as mind-numbing as you'd think. There are some 30 levels containing mini-games based around Mater's outlandish tales of his exploits, from his stint as a matador to his time on the Tokyo drift-racing circuit. You can also explore Mater's time as a rescue vehicle or daredevil stunt performer.

There's enough variety to make it more than a little addictive, even for the not-so-young players. There's co-operative and competitive games on offer, and you can customise your cars with different paint jobs, spoilers and tyres as you progress through the game. Hours of fun.
