App of the week: Radio IE

Because the iPhone doesn’t have a built-in radio, the only way you can listen to your favourite stations is by downloading an app that will access the stations online. But rather than downloading individual apps for each radio station, take a look at Radio IE. The app comes in two versions. The free version is basic but useful. It includes stations from across Ireland that are available online, divided into general Irish stations and Dublin-based radio.

The search function will make short work of the list if you are seeking a specific station, and you can add stations to a favourites list.

The app will play stations in the background, and you can also pause the live radio stream. The pro version, which costs under €1, gives you additional features. You can record clips from the radio feed and either play them back via the Radio IE app, or share them through e-mail.
