THE Fine Gael TD for Donegal North East, Mr Paddy Harte, has tabled a special notice question and a private member's motion on the eviction of the Graham family from An Grianan, their 3,000 acre farm near Lifford.

Mr Harte said he expected the question would be taken by the Minister for Justice on September 25th when the Dail reconvenes.

He said there could be a procedural difficulty with the motion which "deplores the unnecessary and unwarranted use of force" in evicting the Grahams. Private member's time was normally taken up by the opposition parties but he was hoping for all party support.

"In spite of the bitter divisions between the Graham family and the National Irish Bank which the Supreme Court ruled on, and which therefore is not our business, no one can convince me that using sledge hammers to smash into a home in which there are women and children is civilised behaviour. Some will say it was wrong for the women and children to be there, but two wrongs do not make a right."
