CONTROVERSIAL Irish international Peter Clohessy is not the only famous member of Young Munster, the Limerick rugby club not known for its gentle ways or the mildness of its players and followers. The Taoiseach John Bruton is also a member.
For a Meath man and an old boy of Clongowes, who played a bit of rugby in his time. it is a surprising club for him to join. It came about four or five years ago when he visited the club with his Limerick friend Alderman Pat Kennedy and was persuaded to join. A year ago he came to Greenfields, known locally as the Killing Fields, for a couple of All Ireland League matches with his friend and former Young Munster player, the Chief of Staff, Lieut Gen Gerry McMahon. The Taoiseach wore a Young Munster tie and when he was offered a Shannon tie instead he put that on as well and walked round with two. They are hoping to get him back to Greenfields any day now.
