A mother of four whose close relative was allegedly murdered by someone in a rival family has received a three-year suspended sentence for possessing a handgun shortly after the death.
Dublin woman Tanya Kelly (33), Bramble Rise, Dublin Road, Co Cavan, claimed she got the gun after her relative was shot dead because there were threats against her life.
Kelly, formerly of Croke Villas, Ballybough, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possessing a pistol on December 10th, 2007.
