LONDON - Sunscreens might stop sunburn, but are nol effective against cancer causing rays and could lull sunbathers into a false sense of security, the British Medical Association said yesterday. Dr Jane McGregor, a dermatologist at St Thomas's Hospital, said sunbeds should be avoided because of their use of UVA rays.
"Having a sunbed is like sticking yourself in a microwave. It's madness", she said.
