Although best known for his work on the Sex Pistols album sleeves, Jamie Reid remains - proudly - one of best known antiestablishment artists around. Apart from defining punk's visual aesthetic, Reid is also an artistic activist and is connected with numerous campaigns for human rights and political freedom. These days he busies himself as art director for the Afro-Celt Sound System and he is also still working on a long term architectural installation at the Strongroom recording studios in East London. His touring retrospective exhibition, Peace is Tough, is at the City Arts Centre, Dublin, until September 18th. It includes Reid's original work for the Sex Pistols as well as earlier work from the situationist-aligned Suburban Press, alongside recent hanging canvasses and site-specific video and slide installations.
