A religious book shrine dating from the middle ages has been bought by the State for £1.4 million.
The Shrine of the Misach, first mentioned in the Irish Annals of 1165, has been on loan to the National Museum since 1984 and was the property of St Columba's College, in Rathfarnham, Dublin.
