A FIANNA Fail TD, Mr Ivor Callely, has called for statutory legal standards for swimming pools. Mr Callely said last night the present fine weather was creating a risk for people swimming in stagnant canal, water and polluted seas.
Mr Brian O'Herlihy, director of public health, has advised Dublin Corporation that bathing in stagnant water can be a health hazard and people should be advised not to swim in canals.
