More than 100 workers at GE Superabrasives in Clonshaugh have taken the action following a decision by the company's owner, General Electric to sell. The company manufacturers industrial diamonds.

A SIPTU official representing the staff said the workers were seeking long term guarantees on severance payments and loyalty bonuses.

The purchasing company Littlejohn Corporation has guaranteed the existing employment terms for 12 months.
