Sporting centrepieces to disrupt Dublin traffic

Inevitably, traffic chaos can be expected as Lansdowne Road, Shelbourne Road, Newbridge Avenue and Herbert Road will be closed from 1.30 p.m. until after the match.

Races are going ahead at Navan racecourse in Meath tomorrow from 2.30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Bus Éireann will operate a special bus service from Dublin to the races and parking is available in the racecourse grounds.

Expect some delays this weekend at Leopardstown where the IAAF/Sport Ireland World Cross Country Championships are taking place.

The weekend traffic mayhem has started already, with tailbacks of up to five miles heading west through Enfield on the N4. Traffic in general is heavy on all the major routes out of Dublin.

AA Roadwatch is warning drivers in Dublin to expect delays tomorrow between 7 a.m. and 4.p.m as roadworks reduce the southbound carriageway between Shanganagh Vale and the Wyatville U-turn to one lane.

In Kildare, the northbound lane of the N9, Carlow/Kilcullen Road has been closed at Skenagun, one mile north of Castledermot for emergency works. Traffic lights are in place and works are expected to be cleared by Thursday March 28th.

Met Eireann says tonight will be mostly dry apart from a little patchy drizzle in places. It will be very mild with minimum temperatures of eight to 11 degrees.

Tomorrow will be mainly dry and warm. The West can expect cloudy weather with a few patches of drizzle on the coast, but the East will be brighter.

After a few showers overnight, Sunday will be fresher and brighter with sunny spells and the odd shower. The beginning of the week will see a dry start in the east and South of the country.
