LIMA – A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck southern Peru yesterday, shaking buildings in Lima, but there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.
The US Geological Survey said the temblor, reported as a magnitude 7.0 quake, was centred 32 miles (51km) southwest of the coastal city Ica, near where a devastating 8.0 magnitude quake struck in 2007. – (Reuters)
