LONDON - The British government could ban slimming pills, a Department of Health spokeswoman has said, amid press reports of diet related deaths.
The spokeswoman refused toe confirm press reports that four brands of amphetamine based slimming pills were suspected by experts in 15 deaths. The stimulant amphetamine dulls the feelings of hunger and fatigue. "Following a consultation period and hearings by the Medicines Commission, ministers are considering the question of whether slimming pills need to be banned," the Department of Health spokeswoman said.
