SIX people remained in custody last night in connection with the Garda investigation into the murder of the journalist, Veronica Guerin, shot dead in Dublin last month.
The six men are being held in suburban Garda stations in Dublin. A woman arrested earlier in Dublin has been released.
All six are being held under the Offences Against the State Act, which allows for detention of suspects for up to 48 hours before they are charged or released.
Garda sources said the team of detectives based in Lucan which has been investigating the murder came across other crimes and planned crimes in the course of the investigation, and moved on Thursday to arrest those believed to be involved.
While they are not regarded as "prime suspects" in the murder of Ms Guerin, gardai believe they may have information which would help lead them to the killers.
Three of the men were arrested in Dublin, one in Kildare and two in Tipperary.
