The funeral took place in Cork yesterday of Mrs Nuala Coghlan, the sister of Bishop Eamon Casey.
Bishop Casey, who was one of the concelebrants at the funeral Mass for Mrs Coghlan's husband, Patrick, two years ago, was not present at yesterday's ceremony. Close friends of Bishop Casey said that his presence in Cork for Mr Coghlan's funeral had provoked so much media attention that he had decided not to travel from Ecuador for his sister's burial.
