Siptu members have again picketed the Department of Transport in protest at Government proposals to privatise Aer Lingus.
Launching a poster campaign aimed at attracting public support for its protests, the union called on Minister for Transport Seamus Brennan to again schedule discussions on state investment and the Ictu state holding company proposal.
Speaking to ireland.comoutside the Department, Siptu branch organiser at Aer Lingus Christy McQuillan said that ongoing ballots on strike action were "a protective measure".
"It will be a last resort," he said. "But we're not afraid to use it if we have to."
Labour TD Roisin Shortall has tabled a motion for next Wednesday's Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport to discuss the implications of the proposed privatisation. It is expected to obtain cross-party support.
The Siptu ballot for industrial action at the airline concludes on March 24th.
