A Sinn Féin councillor suspended for swearing has been reinstated, the party said today.
Padraig McShane apologised after a four-letter word outburst at a council meeting in Ballycastle last month.
He cursed during a debate at Moyle Council on the future of Rathmoyle Residential Home.
A Sinn Féin spokesman said: “Following an inquiry conducted by the Cuige Uladh Officer Board the suspension of Sinn Féin Moyle councillor Paudie McShane has been lifted.
“Cllr McShane has apologised to all concerned and to the party and agreed to maintain the standards expected of Sinn Féin elected representatives and abide by the code of conduct. This case has now been resolved and there will be no further comment.”
The council’s chairman, Ulster Unionist Willie Graham, had ruled Mr McShane would not be able to speak on Rathmoyle.
The councillor used the f-word and other abusive terms at the chairman and kicked a chair as he left the chamber.
