A leading Sinn Fein councillor has called on an INLA prisoner, Liam Heffernan, to honour the conditions of compassionate leave granted him to attend his mother's funeral in Manchester.
Heffernan (34) who was due back in Maghaberry prison last Thursday, is serving a 23 year sentence for planning a bombing campaign in England three years ago.
A Belfast SF councillor, Mr Joe Austin, said Mr Heffernan should honour his parole. Because of his failure to return, other prisoners were being denied compassionate leave.
