HONG KONG - Residents of a high-rise apartment building sat on window ledges and clung to drainpipes yesterday to escape a fire that killed at least seven people, including two babies.
The fire broke out at lunchtime on the sixth floor of the 20-storey block in the Kowloon district of Hong Kong and spread to the floor below. Firemen took four hours to put out the blaze which claimed the lives of two baby girls, four women and a man.
