Mr John Walsh (74), of Clonmain, Lady's Brige, Co Cork, was killed when his car hit a wall at Lisquinlan. There were no other cars involved.

In Ardee, Co Louth, the body of Mr Thomas Murray, aged 24 years, was discovered in his car in the Gylde River at about 11 p.m.

A garda spokesman said it appears Mr Murray’s car hit a bridge and then overturned into the river sometime on Saturday night but was not discovered until last night.
