Three additional arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in Limerick last night, bringing to seven the number of people in Garda custody.

Three males, who range in ages between their late teens and early 20s have been arrested and detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. They are being held at Mayorstone, Bruff and Henry Street Garda stations.

Four people, including two teenage girls, who were arrested shortly after the shooting also remain in custody following the last night’s fatal shooting which happened at Cloughnadromin in Ballysimon at about 9.30pm.

A 19-year-old man and a juvenile female are being held at Roxboro Garda station and two females, one aged 38, and the other a juvenile, are being detained at Henry Street Garda station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. They can be detained for up to seven days.

The victim suffered a number gunshot wounds and was taken to the Mid Western Hospital in Limerick where he was pronounced dead shortly after 10pm.
