Several hundred nationalists and loyalists engaged in violent confrontations with each other in north Belfast earlier this afternoon.

There were no immediate reports of arrests or injuries in the disturbances on the Ardoyne Road, during which bottles, bricks and other missiles were thrown.

Windows in a number of houses were broken, as rioters threw objects across roofs and over a British army barricade in the street.
