England goalkeeper David Seaman said today he is ready to sign a new contract with Arsenal, just weeks after he considered quitting the game.

The 38-year-old, who is out of contract, told Arsenal's official website that he was ready to quit the game after his mistake in England’s World Cup 2-1 quarter final defeat against Brazil when Ronaldinho scored with a 35-metre free-kick.

But after a series of well-wishers reminded him of his superb World Cup performances until that point, and manager Arsene Wenger branded him the 'best keeper in England' Seaman has opened negotiations on a one-year deal.
