King Fahd of Saudi Arabia has ordered humanitarian aid be sent to the Palestinian people.
The aid consists of thousands of tonnes of dates, medical equipment, blood and food supplies.
The monarch also ordered a telethon be organised to raise donations for the Palestinian people. The orders came at the recommendation of Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz who heads an official Palestinian support committee.
Prince Nayef also ordered that some 3.1 million riyals ($820,000) be sent immediately to families of "155 Palestinian martyrs" who were killed by Israeli forces during the recent attacks.
Since the start of the Palestinian uprising, in September 2000, Riyadh has given some $331 million in grants to the Palestinians.
The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Fund has made a grant of $2 million to the Palestinian health ministry to buy medical supplies for Palestinian hospitals.
