Former women's tennis world number one Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario announced her retirement today.
The 30-year-old four-time Grand Slam winner won 29 career titles but had seen her form slip in recent years - her last appearance was in the losing Spanish side at the Fed Cup final earlier this month.
Sanchez-Vicario won three French Open titles (1989, 1994, 1998) and the 1994 US Open while she was also an eight time Grand Slam losing finalist including two at Wimbledon on her least favoured surface of grass.
The four-time Olympic medallist (two silver and two bronze) was part of a tennis dynasty - her brothers Emilio and Javier having played on the men's ATP tour.
