Four RUC officers suspended over allegations of taking part in Orange protests in Northern Ireland last summer were told, yesterday they could return to duty. None is to be prosecuted, but the matter is still under investigation by the force's complaints and disciplinary branch.
The four were suspended after claims that they took part in the protests in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, at the time of the Orange stand off with police at Drumcree, Co Armagh.
An RUC spokesman confirmed the suspensions had been lifted yesterday by Deputy Chief Constable Blair Wallace after the DPP ruled that none of the four should face criminal charges.
