RUC make £500,000 drugs find in Derry

Cannabis resin with an estimated value of £500,000 was seized by the RUC in Derry city last night.

An RUC spokesman said officers were responding to reports of "suspicious activity" at Oughtaugh Road in the Waterside when they found the drugs.

There were no arrests made.

In a separate incident Dungannon, Co Tyrone, Customs and Excise officials stopped a lorry carrying four million cigarettes.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of illegally importing the cigarettes into Northern Ireland and are currently being questioned.
