Britain's Princess Margaret is to be cremated today after a private funeral.
Five days after she died of a stroke at the age of 71, her coffin was driven slowly through London yesterday to Windsor Castle, west of the capital, where the funeral will be held at 3 p.m.
The 101-year-old Queen Mother has defied fears about her own health to fly in by helicopter for her daughter's funeral, which will see family and friends gathering at St George's Chapel in the ancient castle's precincts.
After the service at St George's Chapel, her body will be taken to nearby Slough crematorium, where she will be one of a handful of people being cremated on the day. The royal family is not expected to be present at that point.
Although the funeral is to be a strictly private affair, the poet laureate Andrew Motion has written a piece in Margaret's honour, the royal household at Buckingham Palace said.
