Three US soldiers have been killed by a roadside bomb attack on a convoy south of Baghdad, the US military said tonight.

Three other soldiers were wounded in the attack at approximately 8 p.m. (5 p.m. Irish time) near Iskandariya, about 50 km south of the capital.

Earlier today, three more US soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb west of Baghdad.

A US spokesman said the bomb exploded in the town of Khaldiya at around 1 p.m. (10 a.m. Irish time).
