London - The companion of the late Princess of Wales, Mr Dodi Fayed, may be criticised for his part in her death, according to a version of the public prosecutor's report obtained by the Guardian newspaper.

A resume of the findings of Judge Herve Stephan, the investigating magistrate in charge of the inquiry, was leaked by the Paris public prosecutor's office, the paper reports.

Six of 24 pages of findings obtained are devoted to describing the "disproportionate reaction" of Mr Fayed, who also died in the crash, when trying to shake off press photographers, it reported.

The public prosecutor alleges that Mr Fayed's reaction was "disproportionate" since there appeared to have been no systematic harassment of the couple by paparazzi. He did not heed advice from the owner of the limousine rental company who warned that the chauffeur, Mr Henri Paul, did not have the correct licence, the report said.
