A group formed by relatives of those killed by loyalists or the security forces in the North has held its first meeting with the Northern Secretary. After meeting Dr John Reid, Mr Mark Thompson of Relatives for Justice said the group had cordial discussions although it failed to secure any British admission of culpability in the Troubles.

The delegation included members of the United Campaign Against Plastic Bullets which handed in a petition calling for the banning of baton rounds. The group said it had collected 20,000 signatures in 10 days last month.
