DHAKA - Rebellious troops in Bangladesh returned to their barracks yesterday, state run radio reported, easing fears of an imminent military crackdown after the sacking of the country's army chief.

Troops loyal to Lieut Gen Abu Saleh Mohammad Nasim, who left their garrisons in the northern towns of Bogra and Mymensingh, had returned to their posts, it said.
