London - Queen Elizabeth is to trim the pageantry at the grandiose state opening of parliament. Buckingham Palace says Silver Stick in Waiting, one of the more esoteric officers in the royal household, will no longer march in the traditional ceremony. The number of ladies-in-waiting will be reduced and the ceremony shortened.
