PROTESTING punks and skin-heads pelted police and each other with potplants at the end of an anti-EU demonstration in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
Around 1,000 demonstrators, waving banners proclaiming "Amsterdamned" and "Europe - welcome to the Fourth Reich", had earlier marched through the city under heavy police guard.
Arriving at the central Dam square, the protesters made short work of a large decorative flower display, with black-hooded anarchists and punks hurling greenery in all directions, watched by crowds of bemused summer tourists.
The more hippie element among the demonstrators could be seen busily salvaging trays of flowers from the destruction.
"Come on, that's stealing," a policeman weakly protested to a dreadlocked man cycling past laden with blooms. "I'm saving their life, man" was the reply.
On Monday night, Dutchpolice arrested about 120 protesters who were shouting outside hotels where EU leaders were staying.
"We arrested them around midnight under a local law for disturbing the public order," said an Amsterdam police spokesman, Mr Klaas Wilting.
He said another 340 people arrested on Sunday night after they assembled for a demonstration outside Amsterdam's police headquarters remained in custody.
