A PSNI officer has been suspended as part of an investigation into allegations of inappropriate text messaging.

A police spokeswoman said the internal inquiry was not linked to an investigation in April when four officers were suspended over alleged racist and sectarian texts.

In a statement, the PSNI said: “The police service expects our staff to behave ethically and with the utmost integrity at all times both on and off duty.

“Any officer who fails to abide by the high standards of behaviour expected of all officers as laid out in our code of ethics can expect to be rigorously investigated.”
