A priest who admitted indecently assaulting five boys in Sligo, Dublin and Louth had been found in bed with two of them, Dundalk Circuit Court was told yesterday. The first complaint about Father Patrick Maguire (63), care of Dalgan Park, Navan, Co Meath, was made in Northern Ireland but gardai in Louth became aware of it.

The 10 charges related to dates from January 1972 to June 1980. Judge Raymond Groarke remanded Maguire on continuing bail for sentencing in March.

Defence counsel asked that the defendant's name not be published until sentencing.

State Prosecutor Mr Roderick O'Hanlon said there was no direct connection between the victims and the defendant. Judge Groarke ordered that no information be published that would identify or name the victims.
