A 66-year-old priest who has been charged with 30 counts of indecent assault while working in a boys' school appeared in court yesterday.
The man, a member of a religious order, is accused of committing the offences against four boys between 1974 and 1981.
Dublin District Court was told he was arrested yesterday afternoon and made no comment after he was charged. He had met the arresting officer by arrangement and gardai had no objection to a small independent bail.
The man's solicitor said he was in a position to provide bail of up to £3,000. Judge James Scally set his own bail at £600, with an independent surety of £2,400, and remanded him to appear again on July 20th.
