A stoning incident in Belfast that led a heavily pregnant woman to be to hospitalised with shock has led to a police appeal for an end to such attacks.

The woman's car was attacked by stone throwers outside the Royal Victoria Hospital late yesterday and three windows were smashed. Officers who came to her aid were also attacked.

Police said the attack was one of a series in the Westlink and Grosvenor Road areas.
