A post mortem is being carried out this evening on the body of a seven-month old baby who died in Cork this morning.
The baby boy was taken to the Southern Infirmary in Cork by car at 9.20 a.m. suffering from scald injuries.
He died a short time later.
A Garda spokesman said a post mortem was being carried out as a "precaution because the child was so young". Results of the examination may be available this evening, he added.
