Portadown parade passes off peacefully

THE Apprentice Boys of Derry travelled to Portadown yesterday for their traditional Easter Monday demonstration

THE Apprentice Boys of Derry travelled to Portadown yesterday for their traditional Easter Monday demonstration. In the mile long parade were clubs from several parts of Northern Ireland, who were joined by members from Cos Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal, and, from England and Scotland.

There was no formal meeting but the Apprentice Boys governor, Mr Allister Simpson, said he was particularly delighted to welcome the clubs and bands from "all nine counties of the old Ulster".

The parade passed off without incident.
