Taoiseach leads Dáil tributes in wake of Las Vegas shooting

The Taoiseach has led tributes in the Dáil in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Leo Varadkar said he had sent a message to the US president, Donald Trump, to "express the condolences of the Irish people to the people of America". "In the face of such horror and tragedy," he added, "the Irish Government and people stand in solidarity with our friends and families in the United States."

The Fianna Fáil leader, Micheál Martin, also expressed his condolences and those of his party following the largest mass shooting in modern US history.

Sinn Féin's leader, Gerry Adams, said, "Our thoughts are with the victims and their families today."
