Minister responds to latest Irish Times poll showing dramatic slump in support for party

The Labour Party will struggle to regain popularity until the economy shows signs of recovery, said Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin after a poll showed support for the party has fallen to its lowest level in more than a quarter of a century.

The latest Irish Times/Ipsos MRBI opinion poll shows the backing of voters for the junior Coalition party has fallen to 6 per cent, a three-point decrease since the last Irish Times opinion poll in June.
