Cyclist dies after early morning collision in Co Waterford

Man in his 40s believed to be 15th cycling fatality on the State’s roads this year

A cyclist has died following a collision involving a car in Co Waterford.

The man, who was in his 40s, was fatally injured in an incident at Kilcop on the Dunmore Road at about 7am on Sunday.

He is believed to be the 15th cyclist to be killed on the State’s roads this year.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and the stretch where the collision happened was closed off pending the arrival of a forensic team
