Poland's conservative coalition government is on the verge of collapse after Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski sacked his deputy leader Andrzej Lepper over claims of corruption.
Mr Lepper's Self Defence Party said it would pull out of the coalition in protest, prompting the Prime Minister to announce early elections in the autumn or early next year.
A government spokesman said the decision to sack the deputy leader was "based on facts" contained in a report by the Central Anti-Corruption Office "regarding large-scale corruption."
In a further development, Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) a left-wing opposition party said it will file a motion of no-confidence in the government tomorrow.
The motion of no-confidence needs a simple majorty to succeed and the party which files it has to propose its own prime minister candidate along with the motion.
