Police questioning skydiver murder suspects

Detectives have been given extra time to question two teenagers over the murder of skydiver Stephen Hilder.

Humberside Police have been given a 12-hour extension to question two 19-year-olds.

Mr Hilder, from Hereford, fell 13,000 feet to his death after both his main chute and the reserve were cut deliberately.

The extension for questioning runs until the early hours of tomorrow morning. The two men are being questioned at separate police stations in the Humberside Force area, police said.

Mr Hilder was an army officer cadet based at the Royal Military College of Science at Shrivenham, near Swindon, and had been taking part in the National Championships of the British Collegiate Parachute Association.

He was a veteran of more than 200 jumps.

Detectives have interviewed hundreds of people since his death, including family, friends, teachers and fellow students at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire, and Bristol University.
