Grand Island - The United Methodist Church defrocked a Nebraska pastor on Wednesday after a jury of ministers unanimously found him guilty of breaking a church rule against officiating at homosexual marriages.

In a church trial held in central Nebraska, the 13-member jury of Methodist clergy members convicted the Rev Jimmy Creech of violating the rule when he officiated at the union of two homosexual men in North Carolina in April. The panel withdrew Mr Creech's ministerial credentials.
