Staff at State mapping agency Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI) were “disgusted and surprised” to learn its chief executive had not been subject to pay cuts applied to all other personnel, their union has stated.

In a letter to OSI chairman Kevin Bonner, Impact said staff were being required to deliver massive reform and modernisation under the Croke Park deal, while staff numbers were reduced.

On Tuesday The Irish Times reported OSI chief executive Geraldine Ruane is to repay thousands of euro overpaid to her over the last two years, from next month. The board did not apply pay cuts of about 8 per cent to her salary under terms of financial emergency legislation which came into force at the start of 2010.
